Position Yourself to Prosper

“Position Yourself to Prosper”

It is safe to say that all of us want to be successful. We all want to have nice things, live in a nice house, drive a nice car, or sometimes just live a comfortable lifestyle. While we all have much to be thankful for, the truth is that some of us are still wondering if in fact “a blessing is on the way.” We trust, we believe, and we’re obedient to God, however sometimes it seems like our sacrifice isn’t worth the return we are getting. Moments like this cause us to stretch ourselves and even question the God we love and serve.

Our challenge during these moments is to see a bigger picture. To try to stretch ourselves to see what blessing God could actually be setting us up for. It isn’t that God doesn’t want us to prosper, but sometimes God wants to position us so that we can prosper and appropriately handle the blessing that is on the way!(in his time and within his will)

The thing that I have noticed is that promotion and prospering has much to do with position. Making the decision to work late when everyone else goes home. Taking an assignment on your job that nobody else wants. Saving money while all of your friends are spending it on things they don’t need. Making your relationships the best they can be by sacrificing, while many of your peers may be too selfish or immature to see the long term benefit of your actions. Studying for a test all night when others choose to go out and party. Moving to a city you don’t care for, so that you can find a better opportunity. Serving in a ministry, that doesn’t seem to be moving in the direction you would like. Helping family members that don’t seem to want to help themselves. And just going the extra mile when you really don’t feel like it. Beloved, doing these things PUTS YOU IN POSITION TO PROSPER, BY PLACING YOU AS A PRIME TARGET FOR A BLESSING!

While you are doing these things trust that someone has their eye on you; watching what you do, seeing how you respond, and taking note of your effort. Also, keep in mind that God has always got his eye on you, to see if you are in fact willing to be obedient to God and position yourself so that he can bless you.

Sometimes we ask why us? Why do we have to be the ones to always “go the extra mile.” Well, it could be God preparing you for something greater, by putting you in the position to prosper in abundance later. Now, don’t get me wrong, while you are in position you will still have some struggles, but trust that in God’s timing and within God’s will the struggles will all make since in hindsight; and you will be thankful that you made the effort to position yourself to prosper.

In 2 Kings 2 We have the story of Elijah and Elisha. Elijah was God’s prophet and Elisha was his mentee. In 2 Kings 2 Elijah was about to be taken up to heaven, and he told Elisha not to follow him, but Elisha refused. Elisha made sure that he positioned himself well. He refused to be out of position. Elisha made sure that everywhere Elijah went, he followed. The text alludes to the fact that Elisha new his mentor was going to be taken into heaven and that the opportunity for a blessing would present itself; and because of this he stayed by Elijah’s side, waiting for the moment when BEING IN POSITION WOULD GIVE HIM AN OPPORTUNITY TO PROSPER.

What would have happened if Elisha got out of position? Well, we probably would not be talking about how him being in position caused him to prosper. What would happen if you got out of position? Well, we won’t have to worry about that because prayerfully this devotion will give you a boost to help you stay in position so God can prosper you!

This week. Think of Elisha and how him deciding to make the effort to put himself in position caused him to prosper. And guess what, he didn’t just get what Elijah had, but he got a “double portion” of Elijah’s blessing. ALL BECAUSE HE WAS IN POSITION. Beloved, as long as you are in position your “double portioned” blessing is on the way! This week go the extra mile, make the extra effort, and position yourself to prosper.
